A lot of the old guard that was so difficult to work with has retired.

@my architect — there's enough space in the ROW to build a new frontage building between the street and the Holiday Inn garage, which is already set back. But generally speaking, the extra 20-odd feet is intended to make redevelopment more economical on those surrounding parking lots (and, perhaps, of enticing the Holiday Inn to expand its ground floor and improve its street-level facade).

Without a site plan review, the land would be fallow as greenspace in the interim, but most agree that the ideal long term outcome is a real city street, with buildings that define an outdoor room.C Nealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07865122912479524567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5254275556127802599.post-30878394174430654522012-11-20T14:14:35.419-05:002012-11-20T14:14:35.419-05:00Nice little write-up, editorial endorsement mixed ...Nice little write-up, editorial endorsement mixed with straight reporting. Especially since the majority would just be in added parking spots? Civic center, Holiday Inn, HI garage and the 'land bridge' across from CC aren't going to change. Realistically what is left other than parking lots?
I'd rather see some type of green space buffering me from these unfortunately designed structures. Absurd that cars come roaring out of the garage without even a hint that they need to yield to peds trying to make their way up Temple St.Turbonoreply@blogger.com
